Task & responsibilities

• Inspect, service, maintain, and repair motor vehicles.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults using diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Perform engine, transmission, brake, steering, suspension, and cooling system repairs.
• Replace worm or damaged components and install replacement parts.
• Conduct routine maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks.
• Test vehicles after repairs to ensure they operate safety and efficiently.
• Identify potential mechanical problems and recommend appropriate repairs.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, servicing, and parts used.
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures and maintain a clean, organised workshop.
• Ensure all work meets quality standards, manufacturer specifications, and relevant regulations.

Qualification & experience

• Relevant automotive mechanical qualification, such as a Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology, or equivalent recognised qualification.
• Previous experience as a motor mechanic or automotive technician is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle engines, mechanical systems, and automotive electrical systems.
• Ability to diagnose and repair vehicle faults using appropriate tools and equipment.
• Good problem-solving, troubleshooting, and time-management skills.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements.
• A valid driver licence is preferred.
