This is a full-time, permanent Motor Mechanic (General) position offering a competitive salary of AUD $80,000 per annum plus superannuation, with approximately 38 hours of work per week. The role provides stable ongoing employment with Platinum Auswide Pty Ltd in Pakenham, Victoria, within a professional automotive workshop environment. The Motor Mechanic (General) will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, servicing, repairing and maintaining a range of motor vehicles to a high standard. The role includes identifying faults in engines, transmissions, brakes, steering and suspension systems using diagnostic equipment and computerised systems. Duties also involve scheduled maintenance, replacement of worn or damaged parts, roadworthy inspections, safety checks and test-driving vehicles after repairs. The mechanic will maintain accurate service records and liaise with customers and service advisors regarding vehicle faults, required repairs and associated costs. The position also requires maintaining a safe and organised workshop and keeping up to date with new vehicle technologies, diagnostic tools and industry best practice.

Task & responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose and test vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, steering and suspension.
• Service and repair vehicles in accordance with manufacturer specifications and workshop procedures.
• Carry out routine scheduled maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements and general tune-ups.
• Use diagnostic equipment and computerised systems to identify and rectify mechanical and electrical faults.
• Repair or replace worn, faulty or damaged vehicle parts and components.
• Conduct roadworthy inspections and complete vehicle safety checks.
• Test-drive vehicles to confirm repairs and identify any further mechanical issues.
• Maintain accurate job cards, service records and vehicle documentation.
• Liaise with customers and service advisors regarding vehicle faults, required repairs and associated costs.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised work area in accordance with workplace health and safety requirements.
• Keep up to date with new vehicle technologies, diagnostic tools and industry best practice.

Qualification & experience

• Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Technology, or a higher/equivalent recognised trade qualification.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience as a Motor Mechanic.
• Sound knowledge of modern vehicle systems, diagnostic equipment and repair techniques.
• Current and valid Victorian Driver Licence.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
• Own tools of trade are preferred.
