G.J SHEPHERD & S.K SHEPHERD t/a GARY SHEPHERD AUTOMOTIVE SERVICES is a well-established automotive workshop located at 4 Gregory Street, Queanbeyan West, NSW 2620. We are looking for a full time motor mechanic for our daily operations at 4 Gregory st, Queanbeyan West, NSW 2620. This is a full time permanent role with minimum 38 hours per week.

Task & responsibilities

• Conduct inspections inspection to determine vehicle condition.
• Detect faults by performing diagnostic tests
• Identifying worn and damaged parts in the vehicle.
• Accurate detection of faults in mechanical parts and vehicle engines using technical testing equipment such as computers where appropriate.
• Detecting and diagnosing electrical faults in vehicles using appropriate diagnostic tools and testing equipment.
• Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
• Removing, disassembling and repairing worn and defective engine parts
• Removing and disassembling transmission and steering equipment and diagnosing faults
• Getting information from clients about issues in vehicle.
• Providing advice to clients on vehicle repairs
• Fitting tyres, tyres replacement & wheel alignment.
• Repairing and replacing faulty parts such as brakes, suspension, transmission, gearbox, exhaust systems, etc.
• Performing scheduled maintenance services include oil change, lubrication top up/ change, as per manuals and general roadworthiness of vehicles
• Refer to vehicle service manuals and manufacturer instructions when carrying out repairs and maintenance.
• Testing vehicles after repair to ensure they comply with safety regulations.
• Test and adjust repaired parts to ensure they are working properly and safely.
• Order and check delivery of spare parts.
• Service and repair of cooling systems, clutch assemblies, suspension systems, etc.
• Inspecting workshop equipment, including vehicle hoists, lifting equipment and other tools, to ensure they meet safety and compliance standards.
• Adhering to workplace safety procedures and using appropriate protective equipment and safe work practices at all times.
• Ensure vehicle meet safety, environmental and emission standards

Qualification & experience

• Minimum certificate 3 in light vehicle Mechanical technology or equivalent/ Certificate iv in Automotive mechanical diagnosis preferred.
• Minimum one year work experience in similar role.
• Technical knowledge and Attention to detail
• Australian work experience preferred
