Scott’s Parts Plus is a well-established automotive parts and recycling business based in Dubbo, NSW. The company specialises in supplying a wide range of recycled, reconditioned, and new parts for 4WDs, Utes, SUVs, commercial vehicles, and passenger cars to customers throughout regional NSW and Australia. 

They are seeking an experienced Diesel Motor Mechanic to join their busy workshop team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines, commercial vehicles, and heavy-duty equipment. You will work with a variety of diesel-powered machinery and ensure mechanical systems are operating safely and efficiently.


Benefits

$76,515 to $85,000 plus Super depending on experience


Task & responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

1. Inspection & Diagnosis

•    Examine diesel engines, transmissions, braking systems, and associated components to identify faults or performance issues.

•    Use diagnostic software and specialised testing equipment to detect mechanical and electrical malfunctions.

•    Conduct road tests and operational checks to assess vehicle performance.

2. Repair & Maintenance

•    Carry out routine servicing including oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, and system adjustments.

•    Remove, dismantle, and rebuild engines, gearboxes, fuel systems, and hydraulic systems as required.

•    Repair or replace worn, damaged, or defective parts to manufacturer and industry standards.

•    Overhaul diesel engines and associated systems to restore functionality and efficiency.

3. Engine & Component Reconditioning

•    Strip and reassemble engine assemblies and major components.

•    Recondition cylinder heads, injectors, turbochargers, and fuel pumps.

•    Measure and test parts to determine suitability for reuse or replacement.

4. Electrical & Electronic Systems

•    Troubleshoot and repair electronic engine management systems.

•    Service starter motors, alternators, sensors, and battery systems.

•    Interpret wiring diagrams and technical schematics.

5. Compliance & Safety

•    Ensure all work complies with manufacturer specifications and safety regulations.

•    Maintain accurate service records and job documentation.

•    Follow workplace health and safety procedures at all times.

6. Customer & Team Interaction

•    Provide clear explanations of mechanical issues and recommended repairs.

•    Collaborate with workshop staff to meet productivity and quality targets.

•    Mentor apprentices where required.


Qualification & experience

Qualifications Required

• Must possess a relevant AQF Certificate III or IV OR at least 3 years of work experience

• Relevant industry experience as a Diesel Motor Mechanic for at least 12 months

• Valid driver licence (Heavy Vehicle Licence desirable)

• Must possess relevant occupational licence
