Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare vehicle panels and surfaces for painting, including sanding, cleaning and masking
• Mix and match paint colours to manufacturer specifications
• Apply primers, base coats and clear coats using spray equipment
• Inspect completed paintwork and carry out touch-ups or rectification work where required
• Polish and finish painted surfaces to a high standard
• Measuring the thickness of paint by using DFT meter, setting trials and and ensuring DFT as per DAG spec. for base-coats more than 15 metallic BC, 2 solid base coat, 5 primers and 3 clear coat.
• Spot repair work from cab masking to final paint and then polish work painting/ spot gun selection and application trials.
• Maintain spray booths, tools and equipment in clean and safe working condition
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures at all times

Skills and Experience Required

• Relevant trade qualification (Certificate III in Automotive Refinishing Technology or equivalent), or
• At least 3 years of full-time, relevant industry experience
• Demonstrated experience working in an automotive repair or collision repair workshop
• Strong attention to detail and ability to produce consistent, high-quality finishes
• Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
• Good communication skills and reliability
