Task & responsibilities

  •  Repairing mechanical components — Restoring or replacing worn or damaged parts and reassembling systems using service manuals when required.
  • Testing and calibrating systems — Conducting performance tests and fine‑tuning mechanical components after repairs to ensure proper operation.
  • Diagnosing faults — Identifying mechanical and electrical issues in engines and related systems using both manual and digital diagnostic methods.
  •  Disassembling vehicle systems — Removing engines, transmissions, steering assemblies, and other components for detailed inspection.
  • Performing routine maintenance — Completing scheduled services such as oil changes, lubrication, and engine tuning to maintain performance and meet emission standards.
  • Using diagnostic software — Operating computer‑based tools to test, analyse, and troubleshoot vehicle components.
  • Inspecting vehicles — Assessing vehicles for roadworthiness and determining required repairs to meet regulatory standards.
  • Reassembling engines — Rebuilding engines and mechanical systems after repairs or overhauls.
  • Providing roadside assistance — Offering on‑site support for vehicle breakdowns when necessary.

Qualification & experience

  • Certificate III in Automotive Diesel Engine Technology and Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis are essential
  • Must have Diploma of Automotive Technology
  • Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic.
  • Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and diagnostic procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret service manuals and technical diagrams.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
