Preformed Line Products (Australia) Pty Ltd is the Australian subsidiary of PLP. We have been supplying quality products to the power utility, telecommunication, cable television and data network industries as well as specialised niche markets since we began operating in Australia in 1961. 

About the Opportunity:

The business is undergoing significant growth and we are seeking a motivated individual to join our team on day shift (6am-2:30pm Mon-Thu & 6am-12:00pm Fri).

General Responsibilities:

• To develop programs for CNC machinery using CAD/CAM software, upload to the relevant machine, set-up the machinery and manufacture products to the required specifications & works order completion date and cost;

• Ensure that machines are cleaned, safe and functional; dies forwarded onto Toolroom for inspection;

• Contribute to implementation /maintenance of the 6S in the workshop; and

• Report any anomalies of machine performance to manufacturing team leader 

The Essentials:

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and decide most efficient method of fabrication & to utilise CAD/CAM software (Edgecam preferred) to create CNC programs;

• 3-5 years’ experience in setting and operating as Machinist / CAD/CAM Programmer;

• TAFE qualified in CAD/CAM, CNC programming or relevant mechanical trade;

• Okuma, Hartford and HaaS experience is an advantage;

• Ability to work autonomously, natural problem solver who has an understanding of why machines are not at peak performance and how to fix errors;

• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritise workloads and plan effectively; 

• Forklift licenses highly regarded; and

• Must be able to read and write English.
