We are looking for a qualified Diesel Motor Mechanic to perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs on heavy vehicles, ensuring safety, reliability, and compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with diesel engines and mechanical systems in trucks and heavy transport vehicles.

Task & responsibilities

• Diagnose, detect and repair mechanical faults in diesel engines, transmissions, steering, suspension and braking systems.
• Dismantle, inspect and reassemble mechanical components such as engines, gearboxes and differentials.
• Repair and replace worn or defective parts, using appropriate tools and service manuals as required.
• Perform regular preventative maintenance including oil changes, lubrication, engine tune-ups, and filter replacements to optimise vehicle performance and meet emission standards.
• Conduct post-repair testing and adjustments to ensure proper functioning of mechanical systems.
• Use diagnostic software and computer-assisted tools to identify faults and evaluate system performance.
• Inspect vehicles and, where authorised, issue or recommend roadworthiness certification.
• Maintain accurate service records and ensure workshop safety and cleanliness.

Qualification & experience

• Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or relevant qualification required.
• Minimum 1–3 years of relevant experience. 
• Sound knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
