About the role

We are seeking a motivated and detail‑driven Defects Estimator to join our growing service team. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the quality, accuracy, and financial performance of our defect works by preparing defect estimates and pricing, supporting scheduling, and delivering a high standard of customer service.

Working closely with management, service technicians, clients, and suppliers, you will be responsible for identifying, documenting, and pricing defects using Uptick, while contributing to smooth project delivery and positive client outcomes.

This role suits someone who enjoys working with numbers and detail, managing competing priorities, and building strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

Defects estimating & pricing

  • Prepare accurate defect quotes, milestone estimates, and final pricing proposals

  • Quantify and cost materials, labour, subcontractors, and equipment

  • Review Uptick reports to identify, document, and price defects

  • Manage job‑specific estimates and support bid preparation and submissions

  • Maintain and update estimating cost data to ensure pricing accuracy

  • Evaluate labour productivity, production rates, and contingency requirements

Scheduling & project support

  • Support scheduling and workflow planning to meet project timeframes

  • Provide end‑to‑end support across defect works and service delivery

  • Prioritise and manage multiple quotes from routine to urgent

  • Provide timely estimates to meet client and business expectations

Customer & stakeholder engagement

  • Liaise professionally with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams

  • Provide clear updates to clients on quote progress and project status

  • Respond to enquiries promptly and assist with resolving customer queries or complaints

  • Build and maintain strong, long‑term client relationships

Administration & teamwork

  • Maintain accurate electronic and physical records and documentation

  • Complete general administration and reporting tasks as required

  • Attend meetings, training, and contribute positively to team outcomes

  • Support a collaborative, professional, and safety‑focused workplace

About you

You will bring a strong combination of technical estimating capability, organisation, and customer service focus.

Essential

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in estimating, administration, scheduling, or a similar role

  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy

  • Excellent time management with the ability to prioritise competing deadlines

  • Confident written and verbal communication skills

  • Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Current Victorian driver’s licence

Desirable

  • Experience with defect estimating or service‑based environments

  • Experience using Uptick or similar estimating / job management systems

  • Experience with accounting or finance software

  • Relevant qualifications (TAFE, short courses, or Bachelor’s degree)

What we offer

  • A stable, full‑time position within a growing business

  • Supportive team environment with hands‑on leadership

  • Opportunity to develop estimating and service expertise

  • A role where quality, professionalism, and customer service are genuinely valued
