About the Role

Bridgestone Doveton is seeking two (2) full-time Motor Mechanics (General) to join our automotive and tyre service team.

The positions are particularly suited to mechanics who have practical experience in tyre servicing, wheel balancing and alignment, vehicle safety inspections and general automotive maintenance. 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Inspecting tyres for wear, damage, punctures, tread condition and general roadworthiness.
• Removing, fitting and replacing tyres on passenger and light motor vehicles.
• Carrying out tyre repairs where appropriate and ensuring tyres are correctly fitted and inflated.
• Performing wheel balancing and wheel alignment and making necessary adjustments to improve vehicle handling and tyre wear.
• Inspecting wheels, tyres and related components and identifying issues requiring replacement or adjustment.
• Conducting routine vehicle inspections and roadworthiness and safety checks.
• Performing basic and scheduled vehicle servicing, including oil and filter changes and checking vehicle fluids.
• Inspecting brake components for wear and carrying out routine brake servicing and replacement of worn components where required.
• Testing vehicle batteries and replacing batteries where necessary.
• Checking basic steering and suspension components, particularly where they affect wheel alignment, tyre wear and vehicle handling.
• Identifying basic mechanical faults during servicing and vehicle inspections and advising on required repairs or maintenance.
• Conducting final checks and road tests, where required, to confirm vehicles are operating safely following servicing or tyre-related work.
• Using tyre fitting, wheel balancing, wheel alignment and general workshop equipment safely and correctly.
• Maintaining accurate records of servicing, inspections and work completed.
• Maintaining a clean and safe workshop and complying with workplace health and safety procedures.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, applicants should have:

• 12–24 months of relevant practical experience in automotive servicing, tyre services or a similar mechanical workshop environment.
• Practical experience with tyre fitting, tyre inspection, wheel balancing and wheel alignment.
• Knowledge of routine vehicle servicing and basic automotive maintenance.
• Ability to carry out basic brake, battery, steering and suspension inspections and servicing.
• Good fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe, high-quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a workshop team.
• Good communication and time-management skills.

Qualifications & Licence Requirements

• An Australian automotive/mechanical qualification is highly regarded and preferred but is not mandatory for applicants who can demonstrate suitable relevant skills and experience.
• Applicants must hold a valid Australian Driver's Licence.
• Applicants must be confident and capable of driving both manual and automatic vehicles.
