About the role

Helitec Structural Services is seeking a Building Trades Assistant to join our growing team in Alexandria, NSW. This is a casual position, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work alongside experienced tradespeople and gain valuable hands-on experience in the building industry. We build in all Sydney areas (Mainly Inner-West and Eastern Suburbs). You will be required to provide your own transport to and from the build sites. A motor vehicle is a must. We pay above award rates—immediate start.

Opportunity to migrate to a full-time position.

What you'll be doing

1. Assisting skilled tradespeople with a variety of construction tasks, including material handling, tool preparation, and site clean-up

2. Learning and applying safe work practices to ensure a safe work environment

3. Demonstrating a willingness to learn and take on new tasks as required

4. Maintaining a positive and collaborative attitude within the team

What we're looking for

1. Strong interest and enthusiasm for the building trades industry

2. Basic knowledge of construction methods and materials

3. Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team

4. Good physical fitness and the ability to perform manual labour tasks

5. Commitment to workplace health and safety

Great Hourly Rate plus Superannuation (12% on base).

Skills and experience - Must Have:

• Previous construction experience.

• Minimum 1-2 years of construction experience required.

• White card.

• Current driver's licence (unsuspended).

• Full car licence required.

• Own transport to work sites.

• Be legally able to work in Australia.

• Have experience in quality construction works.

• Experience in commercial construction, residential building, or general labouring is acceptable.

• Must have experience in residential building, commercial construction, or general labouring.

• Be able to work diligently without supervision.

• Have high personal regard for workplace safety for themselves and others working with them.

• Be able to communicate clearly in the English language with others.

• Be honest in all dealings.

• Be attentive and prompt in getting to the job site on time.
