About the Role:

The Inspector, Building (Preventative Inspections) is responsible for conducting intelligence-led building inspections and audits to promote compliance with building legislation, codes, and Australian Standards. The role monitors and enforces practitioner and industry compliance, investigates consumer complaints, and supports regulatory priorities, including multidisciplinary inspections and low-risk inspections of Class 2 buildings. The Inspector documents and communicates compliance expectations and exercises statutory powers in accordance with BPC policies and guidelines.

What we are looking for:

  1. Conduct inspections and audits: Plan and undertake site visits, inspections, and audits of building work and occupied buildings, gathering evidence to assess compliance with building legislation, codes, and Australian Standards.
  2. Manage compliance and regulatory activities: Prepare inspection reports, correspondence, and recommendations; exercise regulatory powers; and support investigations, legal proceedings, and the appropriate use of compliance tools.
  3. Administer case management and reporting: Manage assigned matters, maintain accurate records and databases, complete reporting requirements, and contribute to data collection, analysis, and quality assurance activities.
  4. Collaborate and drive continuous improvement: Build effective stakeholder relationships, share technical knowledge, contribute to policy and process improvements, support organisational initiatives and emergency responses, and work across teams to achieve regulatory objectives.
