We are seeking a qualified and experienced Motor Mechanic to join our team and contribute to our high standard of workmanship and customer satisfaction.The Motor Mechanic will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, servicing, maintaining and repairing light motor vehicles in accordance with manufacturer specifications, workshop procedures and road safety standards. The role will involve carrying out mechanical repairs, diagnostic testing, scheduled servicing, brake and suspension work, engine-related repairs, tyre and battery services, and pre-purchase vehicle inspections.

The successful applicant will be required to perform the following duties:

  • Inspect, test and diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in light motor vehicles using diagnostic equipment, road testing and manual inspection methods.
  • Carry out routine vehicle servicing, logbook servicing, minor and major servicing, including oil changes, filter replacement, fluid checks, lubrication and general vehicle maintenance.
  • Diagnose and repair engine-related faults, including issues affecting engine performance, starting, overheating, fuel efficiency and general mechanical operation.
  • Dismantle, inspect, repair and reassemble engine components, transmissions, steering systems, suspension systems, braking systems and other mechanical assemblies where required.
  • Repair and replace worn, damaged or defective parts, including brake pads, rotors, shock absorbers, belts, hoses, batteries, starter motors, alternators, clutches and related vehicle components.
  • Perform brake inspections, brake servicing, brake pad replacement, rotor repairs and complete brake system checks to ensure vehicle safety and roadworthiness.
  • Carry out suspension, steering and shock absorber inspections and repairs to improve vehicle handling, safety and performance.
  • Conduct tyre inspections, tyre fitting, tyre replacement and wheel balancing in accordance with workshop procedures and customer requirements.
  • Test and replace batteries and assess related starting and charging system issues, including starter motor and alternator faults.
  • Perform radiator and cooling system inspections and repairs, including identifying leaks, overheating issues and defective cooling system components.
  • Conduct transmission servicing and basic driveline inspections in accordance with manufacturer and workshop requirements.
  • Carry out pre-purchase vehicle inspections, including checking mechanical condition, safety risks, visible faults, wear and tear, and overall roadworthiness.
  • Use service manuals, manufacturer specifications and diagnostic tools to ensure repairs and servicing are completed accurately and safely.
  • Road test vehicles before and after repairs to confirm faults, assess performance and ensure repairs have been completed to an acceptable standard.
  • Maintain accurate job cards, service records, inspection reports and repair notes for customer vehicles.
  • Communicate clearly with workshop management and customers regarding identified faults, recommended repairs, parts requirements and estimated repair timeframes.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with workplace health and safety procedures, workshop standards, equipment safety requirements and environmental practices.
  • Maintain tools, workshop equipment and work areas in a clean, safe and organised condition.
