Boilermaker – Garden Island

We are seeking experienced and trade-qualified Boilermakers to join a project team based at Garden Radical Island, working within a high-security naval and defence environment. This role involves fabrication, welding, maintenance, and structural repairs on marine vessels, naval assets, and associated infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions

• Fabricate, assemble, and repair structural steel components and marine equipment

• Perform MIG, TIG, and Stick welding to Australian Standards

• Carry out modifications and structural upgrades on naval vessels and dockside infrastructure

• Use hand and power tools safely and efficiently

• Conduct cutting, grinding, gouging, and finishing of metal components

• Perform on-site installations and fit-ups

• Undertake maintenance and shutdown works as required

• Complete quality checks to ensure work meets defence and project specifications

• Adhere strictly to WHS policies, site procedures, and safety regulations

• Work collaboratively within a team in a high-compliance environment

• Maintain clean and organised work areas

Skills & Experience

• Trade qualified Boilermaker (Certificate III Engineering – Fabrication Trade)

• Demonstrated experience in heavy fabrication or marine/defence environments

• Proficient in multiple welding processes

• Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings

• High attention to detail and quality workmanship

• Ability to pass medical, drug & alcohol screening

• Must be eligible to obtain site/security clearance (if required)

Desirable

• Confined Space & Working at Heights tickets

• EWP, Dogging or Rigging licences

• Previous experience working in shipyards or defence projects
