About the role

Baker D. Chirico is seeking a skilled and passionate Baker to join our team on a casual basis. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic baking environment where your craft and creativity will be valued. Based in Newstead QLD 4006, you will play a vital role in producing high-quality baked goods that delight our customers and uphold the reputation of our establishment. This position offers the flexibility of casual work whilst allowing you to contribute meaningfully to our baking operations.

Key responsibilities

1. Preparing and baking a variety of bread, cakes, pastries and other baked goods according to established recipes and quality standards

2. Measuring and mixing ingredients accurately to ensure consistency and quality of finished products

3. Operating and maintaining baking equipment, including ovens, mixers and other specialised machinery

4. Monitoring baking times and temperatures to achieve the desired colour, texture and doneness of products

5. Decorating and finishing baked goods as required, ensuring presentation meets company standards

6. Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in the baking area, including proper storage of ingredients

7. Following food safety and health regulations at all times

8. Assisting with inventory management and reporting when stock levels are low

9. Working collaboratively with team members to meet production schedules and customer demands

What we're looking for

1. Proven experience working as a baker or in a baking environment, ideally in a commercial setting

2. Strong knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients and their properties

3. Ability to follow recipes precisely whilst maintaining consistent quality standards

4. Proficiency in using baking equipment and machinery safely and effectively

5. Excellent time management skills with the ability to work to tight production deadlines

6. A keen eye for detail and presentation, ensuring products are visually appealing

7. Strong understanding of food hygiene and health and safety regulations

8. Physical fitness and stamina to perform the demands of the role, including standing for extended periods and lifting heavy items

9. A passion for baking and a commitment to producing quality products

10. Reliability and professionalism in a fast-paced environment

11. Flexibility to adapt to casual working arrangements and varying shift patterns

12. Relevant qualifications such as a baking or pastry course would be advantageous
