We are seeking a talented and experienced baker to join our team at the French Bakehouse in Somerville, Victoria. As our Baker, you will play a crucial role in producing high-quality baked goods that delight our customers and uphold the exceptional standards of our renowned bakery.

Key responsibilities

• Mix, knead, and proof dough to create a variety of breads, pastries, and other baked items

• Operate commercial baking equipment such as ovens, mixers, and slicers to ensure efficient and consistent production

• Maintain a clean and organised work environment, adhering to all food safety and hygiene regulations

• Collaborate with the Head Baker and Pastry Chef to develop new recipes and improve existing ones

• Assist in the training and supervision of junior bakers and kitchen staff

• Ensure all baked goods are produced to the highest quality and presented to our customers to the company's exacting standards

What we're looking for

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a professional baker in a commercial setting

• Strong understanding of baking techniques, food science, and ingredient properties

• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

• Passion for creating delicious, visually appealing baked goods

• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to a positive work culture

• Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach

• Food safety and hygiene certification (or willingness to obtain)

• Trade Certificate in baking or equivalent recognised baking qualification

• Valid Australian work rights including valid work visa
