Your future is Energy Queensland.

Every time a light turns on, or new energy solutions are created, it’s because of us. At Energy Queensland, we’re powering the state’s future—delivering reliable electricity to over 2.3 million customers from Tweed Heads to the Torres Strait and from Brisbane to Birdsville, across 1.7 million kilometres. Through Ergon Energy and Energex, we’re at the forefront of new technologies, innovative ideas and smarter energy solutions.

We employ thousands of people across Queensland, and now you could be part of it. Join us as an Apprentice commencing February 2027 and start building a career that helps power communities and shape the future of energy.

Your opportunity:

Your apprenticeship is an attractive alternative to tertiary study, with your career and salary starting from day one. Through a mix of on-the-job and classroom training, you'll be equipped with the practical experience, knowledge and nationally recognised qualifications needed to become a qualified tradesperson.

You’ll be part of a team that makes a real difference to how power is supplied across our communities, with opportunities to grow a career shaped by your passion and ambition. We offer a variety of trade pathways through our apprenticeship program - explore the options via our Ergon Energy Apprenticeships or Energex Apprenticeships pages. Knowledge of the trade type you're applying for is required as part of your application.

What’s on offer:

  • More time for you: Achieve a healthy work–life balance on a 9-day fortnight, with alternative roster arrangements available at certain locations offering extended time at home.
  • Field role perks: Uniforms and tools, personal protective equipment including helmets, hats, glasses, gloves, safety boots all supplied for you.
  • Location allowances: Allowances that can increase your pay, including allowances up to $28k per annum (for designated locations outside of major cities) and locality allowances of up to $7k per annum.
  • Housing Assistance: options up to $30k per annum where approved.
  • Additional leave: Up to five (5) days per annum to support travel to and from holiday destinations (for specific locations).
  • Paid to learn: Fully paid subject course fees and textbooks.
  • Supported to learn: Fully paid travel and accommodation for training (as applicable).

Your first-year salary as an apprentice will be:

Under 21 years of age: $67,401 + superannuation
21 & over of age: $91,348 per annum + superannuation

What you'll bring:

A passion for a career in the electrical industry and the capacity to work safely, think creatively, embrace diversity, and want to engage to listen, learn and expand your knowledge.

Please note you must be 17 years of age at the commencement of the apprenticeship to be considered (by 1st February 2027).

What matters most to us is our values:
We’re Safe – We Belong – We Grow – We Deliver
And these should matter to you too.

If you are ready to be part of shaping Queensland's energy future, apply now!

As part of your application, you will be required to attach schooling results, a current resume and include the names and contact numbers of two business referees.

If you have any questions about our apprenticeship intake, please email App••••••••••••••••••@energyq.com.au or phone 18•• ••• 353, option 3.

Applications close: 9:00am, Monday 29th June 2026

To be eligible, you are required to have Australian citizenship, permanent residence or a current valid visa that allows you to fulfil the requirements of the apprenticeship.

Energy Queensland values the differences individuals contribute to our workforce and encourages a diverse range of applicants to apply.
