Task & responsibilities

Responsibility:

Repair, maintain and test motor vehicle and other internal combustion engines and related mechanical components.

Duties:

•    Identifying and troubleshooting faults in engines and mechanical components.

•    Taking apart and removing engines, gearboxes, steering systems, and other assemblies for inspection.

•    Repairing or replacing damaged or worn parts, then rebuilding mechanical systems using service manuals when required.

•    Carrying out routine maintenance such as oil and filter changes, lubrication, and engine tuning to improve vehicle performance and meet emissions standards.

•    Reassembling engines and components once repairs are completed.

•    Testing, adjusting, and fine-tuning repaired parts to ensure correct operation.

•    Using computerized diagnostic tools to assess and test vehicle systems.

•    Inspecting vehicles for roadworthiness and issuing certification or outlining necessary repairs to meet safety standards.

Qualification & experience

Qualifications:

•    AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training 

•    AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3)

Experience

•    At least three years of relevant experience.
