About us

PFC Communications & Electrical Pty Ltd is seeking a 1st to 3rd Year Electrical Apprentice to join our team. PFC specialise in all facets of electrical, communications and Security including domestic, industrial and commercial - service and installation across Metropolitan Melbourne and Greater Victorian areas.

About the role

You will undertake an electrical apprenticeship over a 4-year period and complete a certificate 3 in Electrotechnology Electrician. You will be required to attend TAFE to complete ‘off the job’ training. Attendance is usually a structured release of one day per week. You will work under the supervision of an electrician where you will be taught the trade via first-hand experience.

Throughout the course of your apprenticeship some of the types of work include but are not limited to the following:

Installation of cables/wires for,

  • Domestic

  • Commercial

  • Industrial

  • Voice & Data

  • Security CCTV

  • Security Alarm and Access Control

 

Domestic Installation may consist of the following,

  • Power Circuits

  • Lighting Circuits

  • Air Conditioning Units

  • Fire & Smoke Alarm Circuits

  • Switchboards & Control Boards

  • Security CCTV

  • Security Alarm and Access Control

 

Industrial Installation may consist of the following,

  • Power Circuits

  • Lighting Circuits

  • Large Motor Circuits

  • Switchboards

  • Air Conditioning Units

  • Motor Control Circuits

  • Security CCTV

  • Security Alarm and Access Control

 

 

Voice and Data Installations may consist of the following,

  • Fibre-Optic Cabling

  • Structured Cabling

Take the necessary steps to apply for any applicable registrations/ licenses required to practice the trade.

Key responsibilities

  • Attend TAFE as required.

  • Keep up to date with units of competency. If modules are not successfully completed, you will be required to re-sit modules in your own time, and at your own cost, as soon as possible and seek assistance from teachers and industry careers consultants if needed.

  • Complete e-Profiling records regularly and update weekly.

  • Load / unload equipment and material.

  • Pull wire and install electrical devices.

  • Learn how to bend conduit and install it.

  • Get material to help electricians to complete tasks.

  • Maintain a safe and clean work area.

  • Maintain and adhere to the policies and procedures of the company.

  • Other electrical works as you progress through the course of your apprenticeship, as detailed above.

Selection Criteria

  • Previous experience or exposure to electrical installation or tasks (Preferred but not essential)

  • OHS White Card

  • Drivers Licence

  • Completed Year 12 qualifications or above

  • Ability to understand electrical principles

  • Demonstrated interest in the industry fundamentals

  • Basic computer literacy

  • Commitment to full term of the apprenticeship and study requirements

  • Desire to learn and excel in a challenging and complex environment

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

  • Commitment to safety, quality, and principles of continuous improvement

  • Physically fit to perform manual duties

  • Proven ability to work as part of a team

  • Positive self-starter attitude

  • Strong numerical and Literacy skills

  • Strong ability to plan work and effective time management

  • Maintain and adhere to the policies and the procedures of the company
