Role Overview

As a Product Designer at ARB SmartBar in Adelaide, you'll be at the forefront of developing innovative, high quality automotive protection systems and accessories. You will be responsible for designing and validating components with a strong focus on structural integrity, manufacturability, safety, and end user experience. This role is focused on design for manufacture and production release.

From concept through to production, you will contribute to the entire product lifecycle transforming ideas into real world solutions that enhance vehicle safety, aesthetics, and off-road performance. Key Responsibilities include:

• Design and develop automotive products from concept through to production
• Convert design intent into fully manufacturable CAD models and drawings
• Apply DFM/DFA principlesto ensure cost-effective, repeatable manufacture
• Develop and maintain 3D models, assemblies, 2D drawings, and BOMs
• Support tooling design and development(billet aluminium production tooling)
• Participate in prototype builds, testing, validation, and production trials
• Manage engineering changes through ECN / change control processes
• Work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, and suppliers
• Assist in resolving production issues and implementing design improvements

About You:

To succeed in this role, you'll bring:

• 2-5 years' experience in product design for manufacturing, ideally in polymer or automotive industries
• Strong SolidWorkscapability (parametric modelling, assemblies, drawings)
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering, or a related field
• Demonstrated experience designing parts for production tooling
• Practical understanding of:
  • Plastics and polymer manufacturing (rotational moulding desirable)
  • Metal fabrication and mechanical assemblies
  • Tolerances, fasteners, sealing, and mounting systems
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
