Bridgestone Select Coolaroo is seeking a skilled and motivated Motor Mechanic to join our automotive team. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, servicing and repairing petrol engines and mechanical components of light motor vehicles. The role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail and a commitment to delivering safe and reliable vehicle repairs.

Task & responsibilities

• Inspect, service, maintain and repair petrol engines and mechanical systems in light motor vehicles.
• Identify, diagnose and troubleshoot faults in engines, transmissions and other mechanical components.
• Dismantle and remove engines, transmissions, steering systems and other vehicle components for detailed inspection and repair.
• Examine mechanical parts for wear, damage or defects and determine the appropriate repair or replacement requirements.
• Replace faulty or worn components and accurately reassemble mechanical systems using appropriate tools and service procedures.
• Refer to manufacturer service manuals, technical information and specifications when carrying out repairs and maintenance.
• Perform scheduled servicing such as oil and filter changes, lubrication, engine tune-ups and other preventative maintenance.
• Carry out maintenance and adjustments to help ensure vehicles operate smoothly, safely and efficiently and meet applicable emissions requirements.
• Reassemble repaired engines and mechanical components and ensure all parts are correctly fitted and secured.
• Test repaired and serviced vehicles and adjust mechanical components to confirm correct operation and performance.
• Use diagnostic computers and electronic testing equipment to identify faults and assist with accurate vehicle diagnosis.
• Conduct vehicle inspections where required and identify repairs or maintenance necessary to meet roadworthiness requirements.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop while following workplace health and safety procedures.
• Complete repair and maintenance work efficiently while maintaining high standards of workmanship and customer service.

Qualification & experience

• 1–3 years of relevant experience as a Motor Mechanic is required.
• Relevant automotive studies or qualifications must be successfully completed.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle servicing, maintenance, fault diagnosis and mechanical repairs.
• Ability to work safely, efficiently and independently as well as part of a team.
• Good attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
• Practical experience with diagnostic equipment and automotive tools is highly desirable.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn and develop technical expertise.
